The modern solution for all missing teeth.

Tooth loss is a far more common occurrence than most people think. In fact, there are millions of Americans who wind up losing teeth to decay, disease, trauma, and other medical-related problems. For those faced with tooth loss, it is important to seek restoration, something that is most often achieved through dental implants.

Valley OMS is a full-scope oral surgery practice, providing patients throughout Texas with a spectrum of dental implant options. Based on your needs, we can help you identify the type of implants that will restore your smile, both functionally and aesthetically. For patients whose tooth loss is more extensive, the All-on-4 dental implant method is an excellent option.

What are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are small titanium posts, which are placed into the jawbone where they can serve as artificial tooth roots. After several weeks, they fuse into place with the surrounding bone, creating a stable and secure foundation onto which the dental prostheses, such as crowns and bridges, may be placed. Dental implants are a popular treatment for those who have experienced tooth loss or who anticipate the need to have their teeth extracted, providing a way to enjoy a full set of healthy, stable, natural-looking teeth.

About the All-on-4 Implant Method

The All-on-4 method is among the most popular in the world and is so named because it requires the use of just four implants strategically placed throughout the mouth to replace all of your teeth.

Here at Valley OMS, we make your surgery day as comfortable and convenient as possible. Since we have an on-site lab, your team of doctors can work together simultaneously to create the best result for you and your new smile.

Am I a Good Candidate for All-on-4?

When you join us at Valley OMS for a one-on-one consultation, your doctor will perform a physical evaluation, take some images, and talk with you further about your oral health history. This process allows your doctor to recommend the best type of dental implant but also to make sure you are a qualified candidate for a safe, successful surgery.

Generally speaking, the best candidates for All-on-4 meet the following criteria:

  • They have lost all or most of their teeth or anticipate having all of their teeth removed.
  • They do not have any untreated periodontal diseases.
  • They are in good health overall and do not have any underlying conditions that would prevent proper healing.
  • They have sufficient bone tissue for implant placement, are prepared to have bone regenerated via a bone graft, or use zygomatic implants.

Rehabilitate Your Smile with All-on-4 Dental Implants

Using the All-on-4 method, our surgeons can replace an entire set of teeth for most patients with just four strategically-placed implants, ensuring a recovery period that is as brief as can be. If you need full mouth restoration, contact us about All-on-4 treatment.

Other Dental Implant Options

If you only need to replace one or two teeth, we have other dental options (including the single Crown on an Implant treatment) that may be more appropriate. And, if you have experienced significant bone deterioration and do not have sufficient tissue for All-on-4 implant placement, we may recommend zygomatic implants. Join us for a consultation at Valley OMS to learn more about the different types of dental implants available.

Do I Really Need to Have My Teeth Replaced?

If you have experienced tooth loss or anticipate the need to have teeth removed, we would urge you to learn more about the options for tooth replacement.

Not only is it desirable to restore the aesthetics and functionality of your smile, but tooth loss, when left untreated, can also result in the degradation of the underlying bone structure. This may lead to unwanted changes to your facial appearance, and over time can make it harder for you to get implants that will work for you.

All-on-4: About the Procedure

As you consider getting All-on-4 dental implants, it is only natural to have some questions about the procedure. Here is a general overview of what you can expect from All-on-4 dental implants.

The Consultation

When you first join us at Valley OMS, one of our doctors will evaluate your teeth, take dental x-rays, discuss your options, and take impressions that will be used to design your dental prostheses.

Implant Placement

The four implants will be placed into your jawbone. You will be given temporary but permanent teeth you do not remove. They are fixed solidly to the four implants. They are not quite as functional as normal teeth but will help you maintain the aesthetics of your smile and your ability to eat. The implants will need several weeks to heal before the final prostheses are placed.

Getting Your Replacement Teeth

Once the implants have fused into place, you will return to your restorative dentist’s office to have your final dental prostheses put into place, completing the restoration process.

Recovery from All-on-4

Due to the lower number of implants, the recovery process for All-on-4 tends to be shorter and smoother. Even so, you can anticipate the need to rest and recover for approximately a week.

You will also want to stick with softer foods or liquids for the first few days of recovery, though you will ultimately be able to return to your normal dietary habits.
