What is Gum Disease?
Also know as periodontal disease, many adults in the US suffer from some form of the disease. The disease ranges from gum inflammation to more serious diseases that can result in major damage to the soft tissues and teeth. If you think you have some form of gum disease, contact ValleyOMS for an appointment as soon as possible.
What caused gum disease?
Gum disease is caused by the accumulation of bacteria in your mouth. This bacteria along with mucus and other particles form a “plaque” on teeth. If this plaque is not removed, it then hardens and forms a “tartar” that brushing alone will not be able to remove.
How do I know if I have gum disease?
Some of the symptoms of gum disease include:
- Bad breath
- Red or swollen gums
- Tender or bleeding gums

- Loose teeth
- Sensitive teeth
- Receding gums or longer appearing teeth
